I am a student at Panther Creek High School. I have witnessed the stresses created by the massive overcrowding in recent years. I believe nearly a quarter of my classmates attend classes in modular classrooms (trailers). I can say firsthand that this is not an ideal high school experience. We must trudge through the elements throughout the day and have no centrally located lockers or other facilities.

While adding more trailers may accommodate the needed additional classroom space, it does not solve the problem of common areas. For example, at lunch time the cafeteria seating is maxed out and many students must leave to eat off campus. Putting so many students into inadequate facilities is not fair and can negatively impact the learning environment. I strongly recommend the school board move forward with a ninth-grade center under one roof as proposed at Pleasant Grove. We cannot afford to wait another year or two.
