Raleigh man charged with attempted car theft

RALEIGH -- A Raleigh man has been charged with attempting to steal a car by threatening to hit the owner with a wooden rod.

Darrell Glenn Coston, Jr., 24, of Overdale Lane, Raleigh, was arrested Tuesday. According to the arrest warrant, Coston attempted to steal a car, worth $20,000, by threatening to hit the man with a 4- to 5-foot long wooden dowel rod.

Coston is being held in the Wake County Jail under a $50,000 bond.
