CHARLOTTE -- With their season hanging on the balance and 2.8 seconds left on the clock, St. Augustine's trailed Lincoln (Pa.) 49-48. After a time out, the Falcons got the ball to Jon Kindred, who had hit a 3-pointer with 3:20 left to knot the game at 48. Kindred didn't hesitate, shooting a soft jumper from just inside the 3-pt line that hit nothing but net to give the Falcons a 50-49.

St. Aug's advances to Wednesday's CIAA quarterfinal game against Fayetteville State.

Only seconds earlier, the Falcons looked despondent after Joel Kindred was called for a foul with 5.5 seconds left. But Lincoln guard George Jackson made only one of two free throws, setting up Jon Kindred's heroics.

The win breaks the Falcons' four-game losing streak and gives them their first tournament victory in three years.

Despite Jon Kindred's game-winner, St. Aug's forward Tyquan Stroman was name the game's MVP after scoring 14 of his 16 points in the first half to keep the Falcons in the game.

The matchup was close throughout as neither team led by more than five points, the scored was tied 10 times and the lead changed hands 13 times.

St. Aug's win keeps the four Raleigh CIAA schools alive for another day.
