William (Bill) McBlief, 62, died on March 9, 2012, at his home in Johnston Co., NC.
A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Rosemary United Methodist Church, 900 Jackson St., Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service.
Bill was born March 5, 1950 in Raleigh, NC. He attended Myers Park High School in Charlotte, NC, and received his Bachelor’s and Law degree from UNC-Chapel Hill. He worked for many years as an attorney in North Carolina, first with Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice in Winston-Salem, later with the North Carolina Attorney General’s Office, and more recently with Halifax County. Bill was passionate about his profession and was a fierce advocate for his clients. He was equally passionate about history and had an extensive library on various aspects of the Civil War and Naval history. A kind man of strong faith, with a wry sense of humor, he was much loved and will be sorely missed.
Bill is survived by his wife, Kathi; sister, Alicia Long; and father, Leonard Long, he was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Long.
