NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Some North Carolina teenagers spent a portion of their vacation in jail after officers with North Myrtle Beach were called because someone had fallen off a balcony.
Called to the 300 block of 52nd Avenue North in North Myrtle Beach around 10:30 p.m. Thursday, police found a 17-year-old male on the ground. He was conscious, but had blood coming from his eyes and mouth and couldnt respond to questions. He was transported to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center and his condition was not available Friday evening.
The victims name has not been released by police, but the other teens arrested at the party were all from North Carolinas Triangle, primarily Apex and Cary.
Witnesses have conflicting reports on the fall. Some said he jumped, but his friend, Jakob Ross Grabey of New Hill, said they were both pushed and that his injured friend broke his fall.
Grabey told police the residents tried to throw them out of the party and, when they stepped onto the balcony, a group started to push them.
People inside told officers Grabey and his friend were not invited to the party and were both intoxicated and causing a disturbance. The pair was asked to leave and exited but tried to to get back in.
But officers interviewed the teens separately and learned a group formed a half circle to force Grabey and his friend out of the house. Police said there were 15 people on the balcony trying to walk down the stairs when the two fell.
During a search of the building., police found alcohol and marijuana.
Arrested and charged with under-age possession of beer or alcohol were: Miranda Nichole Browning, 17, of Cary; Tyler Scott Carroll, 17, of Cary; Fernando Castellanos, 17, of Raleigh; Alexander Gregg Conwell, 18, of Cary; Chesley Morris Edwards, 17, of Cary; Jakob Ross Grabey, 17, of New Hill; Tyler Isaac Hamby, 18, of Cary; Kevin Francis McQueerey, 18, of Cary; William Churchill Moore, 17, of Cary; and Fraser Alexander Murphy, 18, of Cary.
Grabey was also charged with public disorderly conduct and public intoxication. Carroll and Castellanos were also charged with simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
