Bahamasair will begin operating twice-weekly flights from Raleigh-Durham International Airport to Freeport in the Bahamas on Friday, taking over service that had been provided by Vision Airlines from November through April.

The schedule is unchanged. The flights on Monday and Friday leave RDU at 7 p.m. and arrive at Freeport, Grand Bahama Island, at 8:55 p.m. The inbound flights leave Freeport at 4:05 p.m., arriving at RDU at 6 p.m.

The round-trip fare posted on the Bahamasair website is $275.90.

To mark the start of the Bahamasair service, the Tim Smith Trio will perform island music Friday afternoon in RDU's Terminal 2.
