Durham bakery celebrates grand opening
Favor Desserts Bakery and Coffee Shop is celebrating its grand opening from noon-7 p.m. Saturday.
The bakery is the work of Keijuane Hester, who hopes to be an inspiration to other former convicts who may not believe there is life and work after prison. Hester was released from federal prison in 1999 after he says he served time on drug charges. He’s spent the last decade building his baking business.
Saturday’s celebration will include coffee and cake tastings, live music by a jazz/neo soul band, children’s activities and giveaways. The bakery is at 5607 N.C. 55, Suite 105, in the Bentley Ridge shopping center. For more information, call 919-908-9264 or go to www.favordesserts.com.
Another Broken Egg Cafe to open in Durham
On Monday, the lastest location of the Another Broken Egg Cafe restaurant chain will open in Durham at 2608 Erwin Road in Pavilion East.
The restaurant serves an upscale breakfast, brunch and lunch menu. It started in 1994 when founder Ron Green opened the Broken Egg Cafe in Lake Pontchartrain, La. A year later, a customer suggested Green open “another Broken Egg Cafe,” and so he did. Now there are 21 locations, predominantly in the Southeast. The restaurant will be open 7 a.m.-2 p.m. daily.
A second North Carolina location will open later this summer in Morrisville.
