President's visit will disrupt traffic

Published: April 24, 2012

President Obama’s visit to Chapel Hill on Tuesday will cause road closings and detours throughout the day, both on UNC’s campus and between Raleigh-Durham International Airport and Chapel Hill.

The president is scheduled to give a speech at 1:05 p.m. at Carmichael Arena and afterward tape a segment for the “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” show. The president is scheduled to leave the Triangle about 3 p.m. Portions of South Road in Chapel Hill will close at 7 a.m. and may remain closed as late as 4:30 p.m.

Other road closures are expected, so be prepared for major delays and traffic congestion. Check the UNC website, www.unc.edu, for updates.
