Durham Public Schools will hold its annual Teacher of the Year Awards Banquet on Thursday, May 10, at Washington Duke Inn.
Each school in the district nominated a teacher of the year. The list was reduced to ten semi-finalists and now to four finalists. The four finalists are:
• Alaina Burr – English as a Second Language, Riverside High
Carrie Jacobsohn – Social Studies, Carrington Middle
• Karen Lodata – Fifth Grade, Holt Elementary
• Yolanda Reilly – Physical Education/Health, Shepard Middle
The Teacher of the Year will be awarded a cash prize of $1,000. Each of the other finalists will receive $500.
This year’s Teacher of the Year Awards Banquet will be sponsored by Triangle Orthopaedics and The North Carolina Specialty Hospital.
The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. Washington Duke Inn is located at 3001 Cameron Blvd.
