Saltwater

Oregon Inlet

Inshore boats have caught good speckled trout, flounder, bluefish, sea mullet and puppy drum. Offshore boats reported excellent bites on wahoo, dolphin and yellowfin tuna with scattered catch-and-release blue marlin and sailfish. Buxton/Hatteras

Sea mullet, blowtoads, flounder, bluefish, speckled trout and puppy drum are biting for nearshore and inshore anglers. Offshore boats are catching yellowfin tuna, blackfin tuna and wahoo and scattered dolphin and cobia. Ocracoke/Portsmouth

Off the piers and on the beaches, speckled trout, Spanish mackerel, sea mullet, flounder and bluefish are being caught. Inshore boats reported red drum, flounder and speckled trout are biting. Offshore, limits of yellowfin tuna, dolphin and wahoo are biting along with scattered cobia. Cape Lookout/

Bogue Inlet

Inshore, sea mullet, Spanish mackerel, speckled trout and bluefish are being caught in large amounts. In the sound, trout, sea mullet and red drum are being caught. Topsail Island

On the beaches, speckled trout, puppy drum and Spanish mackerel are biting with scattered sea mullet still being caught. In the sound and in the creeks, anglers are reporting speckled trout, red drum and sea mullet are biting. Offshore, wahoo, yellowfin tuna and dolphin are still being caught. Wilmington/ Wrightsville Beach

Flounder, speckled trout and puppy drum are still being caught by nearshore anglers. Inshore, bluefish, Spanish mackerel and speckled trout are biting with scattered flounder and whiting being reported. Southport/Sunset Beach

Freshwater

Falls Lake

Times are slow for bigger largemouth bass, but some smaller bass are biting in weed beds on crank baits and spinner baits. Crappie are biting on minnows at deeper depths around brushpiles. Scattered catfish have been caught on chicken livers. Water level: normal 251.5, Wednesday 253.01, full pool 264.8. Contact: Outhouse Tackle 919-217-0085; www.wmi.org.

Jordan Lake

Crappie are still biting on live minnows at deeper depths. Largemouth bass are biting on crank baits and spinner baits near beds at medium depths. Water level: normal 216, Wednesday 216.69, full pool 240. Contact: Wilsonville General Store 919-362-7101; Crosswinds Marina 919-362-5391.

Kerr Lake

Largemouth bass continue to bite shallow on rocky points by anglers casting jigs, crank baits and spinner baits. A few small crappie are being caught on jigs near brush piles. Catfish and striped bass are biting from medium to deeper depths on live baits. Water level: normal 300, Wednesday 300.89, full pool 320. Lake Wheeler

Largemouth bass have moved to medium depths and are biting on spinner baits, crank baits and jigs. Crappie continue to bite on minnows at shallow to medium depths. Catfish are biting on chicken livers and live baits at medium depths. Contact: Wilsonville General Store 919-362-7101.

Shearon Harris Lake

With warm weather in the area, largemouth bass are biting at deeper depths on jerk baits and crank baits in the backs of the creeks. Crappie are biting on live minnows, but have moved to medium depths. Contact: The Tackle Box 919-557-8255; www.wmi.org.
