An elementary school in Angier is closed today due to an overnight wreck on N.C. Highway 50 that shut off the school's main water supply.
A driver hit a fire hydrant on the playground at McGee's Crossroads Elementary School around 1:45 a.m. Friday, according to authorities with State Highway Patrol. The school is closed for students, but is expected to be back to its normal schedule Monday, said Rose Matthews, an office assistant at the school.
The driver of the vehicle has not been identified yet. It is unknown at this point whether charges will be filed in the case, according to the Highway Patrol.
