Police in Chapel Hill have responded to two calls of women being grabbed by an unknown man while walking on Church Street in the past week.
The first incident happened about 3 a.m. May 19 when a stranger grabbed a woman by the buttocks. The incident was reported at 11 a.m. that day, said Lt. Kevin Gunter of the Chapel Hill Police.
The second incident occurred less than 72 hours later on Monday about 11:20 a.m.
In both cases, the man walked away after grabbing the women.
Gunter said that a delay in reporting both incidents had made the investigation more difficult. "The quicker we can get officers in the area, the more chances there are of actually finding the person," he said.
The man in the first incident is described as black, 23 to 26 years old, 5 feet 9 inches to 6 feet tall, weighing 170 to 180 pounds. He had short hair and a muscular build and wasn't wearing a shirt.
In the second incident, the man is described as black, 6 feet tall, with short hair. He was wearing a blue Polo shirt and jeans.
University of North Carolina students were alerted about the incidents because they happened near campus.
