CHAPEL HILL — Mike Voight, the second-leading rusher in North Carolina history and a two-time ACC Player of the Year, has died.
He was 58. Voights attorney, SuAnne Hardee Bryant, said Voight was found Tuesday morning at his home in Chesapeake, Va. Bryant said the cause of death wasnt known.
Voight ran for 3,971 yards, 42 touchdowns, and scored 254 points. He had three 1,000-yard seasons and twice was the top rusher in the ACC. Hes seventh in career rushing yards in the ACC, and his rushing touchdowns rank seventh in conference history.
In 1976, Voight scored 110 points and ran for 1,407 yards, including 261 in his final game, a 39-38 victory against Duke.
