A man was shot and killed in Spring Lake, about an hour southwest of Raleigh, on Wednesday evening, authorities said.

Officers received a call just after 7 p.m. from a resident of an apartment complex located on Sweet Lane reporting that someone in their apartment complex had been shot, according to Harnett County Sheriff Larry Rollins.

When officers arrived, they found that a shooting had occurred in an apartment building at 113 Sweet Lane.

Christopher Darrell Davis, 26, of 3262 Hillman Grove Road, Cameron was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

Jamie Delano Benson, 31, of 113 Sweet Lane, Apt. H, has been arrested and charged with one count of first degree murder, according to Rollins.

Davis’ body was transported to Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital and will be sent to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy.

No further information has been released.
