Restaurant news: A new bistro in Carrboro

Venable Rotisserie Bistro now open in Carrboro

Chef-owner Drew Moore has opened Venable Rotisserie Bistro in historic Carr Mill Mall in Carrboro, near Weaver Street Market.

The restaurant’s tagline is “Elevated Comfort Food.” Moore says he wants the restaurant to be approachable and affordable, as well as casual like a bistro. Prices range from $3 for a cup of soup to $20 for a bone-in rib eye.

Moore, 32, grew up in Colorado, attended the Culinary Institute of America and has worked in a number of locations from Boston and Italy to iTrulli in New York City and the now-closed Club Chelsea in Aspen. At some point, a friend suggested he might like the Triangle’s vibrant food scene. He ended up at as a sous chef at Il Palio in Chapel Hill, became the opening chef at The Federal in Durham and returned after a stint in Boston to manage the staffs at Tyler’s Taproom as they expanded into Apex and Raleigh.

Given his experience with Italian food, Moore says the menu does have an Italian feel. The menu includes such dishes as bresaola and cavatelli. An unique feature is their rotisserie; rotisserie chicken is always on the menu and Moore says he also will offer rotisserie specials.

The restaurant is open for lunch, dinner and late-night dining Tuesday-Sunday. They offer brunch on the weekends. They are closed on Mondays.
