CLAYTON — Firefighters worked for about two hours Saturday before being able to free the driver of a tractor-trailer that tipped over while navigating a ramp from Interstate 40 onto the Clayton Bypass, U.S. 70.
Various ramps at the interchange, I-40 Exit 309, were closed or partially for emergency workers and then for working to remove the truck, which sustained heavy damage to the tractor.
The driver was taken to WakeMed Hospital, but the extent of his injuries was unknown.
The accident happened shortly after 8:30 a.m. and kept troopers, firefighters and EMS workers on the scene until after noon.
