CHAPEL HILL — The westbound lanes on Franklin Street have reopened after an accident between a motorcycle and car closed a section of the street Tuesday afternoon.
Witnesses said the driver of the car, which was parked westward near 440 W. Franklin St., tried to make a U-turn in front of oncoming traffic. The motorcycle, heading west on Franklin Street, was in the right lane when it collided with the vehicle, police said.
The motorcycle driver has been taken to UNC Hospitals, police said. The driver of the car was not injured.
