Ohio trio charged in Cary prostitution arrests

Published: June 16, 2012

— Police late Friday went to the Days Inn near RDU International Airport and arrested two women and a man who they said had been running a prostitution operation there.

All three people gave Toledo, Ohio, addresses. The women were charged with prostitution. The man was charged with keeping an adult in sexual servitude, which police said is the North Carolina statute used to arrest someone who is believed to be acting as the agent, or pimp, for prostitutes.

Brent Allen Kohlhofer, 30, of 126 W. Gramercy Ave. in Toledo, Ohio, was held on $20,000 bail after being brought before a magistrate early Saturday. The statute under which Cary vice detectives charged him says someone is guilty if “that person knowingly subjects or maintains another in sexual servitude.”

Ashley Rachel Houck, 23, of 5841 Yermo Drive in Toledo and Jasmin Raquel Regan, 31, of 861 Colburn St. in Toledo were each charged with maintaining a room for prostitution. Their bails were set at $1,000 each.

Cary detectives said it is not uncommon for prostitution operations to go to a town, get rooms in a hotel near an airport, put out word through the Internet or other sources that they are in business and stay for a few days or weeks, then move on to another place. They said there did not appear to be any special reason that the Toledo residents came to the Triangle.
