Durham police say they are investing the death of a teenager Sunday night on C View Street in southern Durham.

Officers were called to the 3300 block of C View Street shortly after 9 p.m. Sunday, where they found a 16-year-old boy dead inside the house and two guns that had been reported stolen. The young man had suffered a gunshot wound.

Investigators are still trying to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting, according to Durham police spokeswoman Kammie Michael. The teen’s identity has not be released because he is a juvenile.

The guns are believed to have been stolen during a burglary Saturday in the 3300 block of C View Street, according to Michael.

Investigators followed up on the burglary and charged Jamond Alston, 17, of South Alston Avenue with possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a handgun by a minor, possession of stolen property, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Alston was placed in Durham County jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Alston is not charged in connection with the shooting.

Police ask anyone with information to call Cpl. Schnee at 919-560-4440, ext. 29320.
