U.S. Marshals have apprehended a federal inmate who escaped from a minimum security facility at the Butner Federal Corrections Complex Monday evening.
Ernest Thomas, 60, was recaptured Thursday west of Butner, in the area of Old Oxford Road and Snow Hill Road near Bahama in Mangum, according to a U.S. Marshals Service spokesman Bryan Konig.
Thomas is serving a sentence for cocaine possession.
The Henderson native was wearing gray sweat pants with a gray sweatshirt when he fled. Marshals found him sitting on the back porch of a residence where he was cooling himself with a garden hose, Konig said.
