The Canes have re-signed forward Brett Sutter to a one-year contract that will pay Sutter $550,000 on the NHL level or $105,000 on the American Hockey League (AHL) level, with a guarantee of at least $150,000.
Sutter, 25, completed his fifth professional season in 2011-12, spending the majority of the year with the Charlotte Checkers. He had three assists in 15 NHL games with the Hurricanes and averaged 7:34in ice time per game.
On the AHL level, Sutter totaled 13 goals, 16 assists (29 points) and 58 penalty minutes in 63 games, and served as team captain for the Checkers.
