RALEIGH — A late-night traffic checkpoint set up by Wake County sheriff’s deputies, state troopers and officers from eight municipal police departments resulted in tickets or arrests for 90 people Friday, including 17 for driving while impaired and the same number for driving with a revoked license, officials said.
The checkpoint at South New Hope Road and South Rogers Lane began about 11 p.m. and ran until 4 a.m., sheriff’s spokeswoman Phyllis Stephens said.
Other citations included not having an operator’s license, misdemeanor drug violations and seatbelt, registration and inspection violations.
The sheriff’s office, Highway Patrol and local police comprise the Wake County Traffic Safety Task Force, which schedules checkpoints from time to time.
