Durham police investigate homicide

Durham police are investigating a homicide that happened early this morning on Wabash Street near Truman Street.

Officers responded to a shooting call at 4:23 a.m. today. When they arrived, they found Dennis Lamb, 23, of Durham, lying in the street. He had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Based on a preliminary investigation, detectives do not believe this was a random act.

No charges have been filed at this time.

This was the third shooting in a week in Durham, and the second in the area near East Lawson Street. One person was killed and one was injured in a shooting Saturday night on East Lawson Street. On Sunday, one person was injured in a shooting in the parking lot of Econo Lodge near Highway 55.
