Duke's Anasi, Kerr earn preseason All-America soccer honors

— Duke University junior soccer standouts Natasha Anasi and Kaitlyn Kerr have been selected to the 11-member preseason All-America team by All White Kit released this week.

Other local members of the All-America team include North Carolina’s Crystal Dunn andAmber Brooks, as well as Wake Forest’s Katie Stengel.

A 5-6 native of Arlington, Va., Anasi is coming off a sophomore campaign where she helped the Blue Devils to a school-record 16 shutouts.

Anasi started all 27 matches and moved from the midfield to the central defender slot in the fourth match of the season after redshirt junior Ashley Rape went down with an ACL injury.

Women’s basketball

Duke: Following two weeks of practice, head coach Joanne P. McCallie and the Duke team will begin its DWB European Tour on Monday as the Blue Devils fly to Paris, France.

On Wednesday, the Blue Devils will play their first of three games against BC Franconville at Gymnase CSL. Franconville plays in the NF1 League in France and posted a 10-12 record this past season.

On Friday, the Blue Devils travel to Deauville, France for a game against Mondeville. Mondeville plays in the top league in France and notched a 15-11 record last year.

The team will play its third and final game on Sunday against Geispolsheim.
