N.C. Central adds Eaton to women’s basketball staff

— N.C. Central announced Kendra Eaton as a new assistant women’s basketball coach Thursday.

Eaton comes to Eagles after one year as coordinator of basketball operations at Wake Forest.

As the coordinator of basketball operations during last season, Eaton handled the day-to-day operations of the team, including coordinating team travel, supervising non-coaching personnel, arranging community service activities and assisting with on-campus recruiting. She also helped develop content for the Wake Forest women’s basketball recruiting website.

Volleyball

Duke: The Blue Devils are set to host the Duke Invitational this weekend and will open their season against William & Mary Friday at 7 p.m. at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

The Blue Devils will play Fairfield at 10 a.m. and Wisconsin Milwaukee (7 p.m.) on Saturday.

N.C. Central: The Eagles open their season by hosting six teams in the NCCU Invitational this Friday and Saturday and then playing Hampton at home on Sunday at 2 p.m.

The NCCU Invitational action begins Friday at noon with N.C. Central playing UNC Greensboro. The Eagles will play Liberty at 6:30.

Saturday’s features Eagles’ matches against Bradley at 11 a.m. and Winthrop at 5:30 p.m.

Women’s Soccer

Duke redshirt junior Kim DeCesare was named to the Soccer America Team of the Week Thursday, after helping to lead Duke to victories over William & Mary and Elon last week.

DeCesare had three goals and two assists in the two matches. She has moved to forward this year and kicked off the season with one goal in the Blue Devils’ 4-1 victory at William & Mary.

The Blue Devils play the Montreal Friday at 5 p.m., and will face off against Florida on Sunday as part of the UNC Classic in Chapel Hill.
