DURHAM — Police officers have reported that multiple residential units were destroyed by a fire that ripped through an apartment building on University Drive Friday.
A passerby called emergency communications to report flames shooting from the roof of Springfield Apartments, 4600 University Drive, around 3:30 p.m.
No one was injured, according to Durham police.
Red Cross representative Emily Everett said her organization assisted 34 people from 18 apartments Friday evening with food, clothing and temporary housing.
The Durham Fire Department is still investigating the cause of the fire.
