WAKE COUNTY — A single vehicle accident on Hwy 401 outside of Fuquay-Varina ended in a fatality for an Apex woman Sunday, State Trooper Andrew Ahlmark said.

Melissa Liegeot, 22, died after her vehicle ran off the right shoulder of Hwy 401, slid down an embankment and struck a tree.

Liegeot was pronounced dead at the scene and is reported to have died on impact.

There were no other occupants in the vehicle.
