Foxes and football
Athletes have it hard. One of your recent front-page articles suggested that many athletes have hard times coping with the academic challenges at UNC-Chapel Hill.
I totally agree. Athletes have always had it tougher than the rest of us who went to school at Carolina and earned our degrees. They get free tuition, free room and board, free tutors and sometimes free parking.
For those of us who paid our own way through Carolina, we had it made. We studied, went to class, sat for exams and did it on our own with the ultimate goal of graduation. I guess we had it easy.
As for what is next at Chapel Hill, that’s an easy prediction. After the smoke settles, nothing will change, especially if the Board of Governors takes the lead in the upcoming investigation. Since almost two-thirds of the members of the Board of Governors have huge ties to Chapel Hill, they will not punish their favorite child; after all, the fox is guarding the hen house, but who cares, it is time to play some football.
