DURHAM — Two motorcyclists were involved in a crash on Interstate 40 at the Miami Boulevard exit on Friday.
The crash was caused by the two motorcyclists quickly braking when traffic slowed, causing the motorcycles to collide with each other and sending one rider to the right of the road, landing on the shoulder and causing the other rider to lay down the bike in the road where he was struck by a vehicle.
Both riders were transported to Duke Hospital with serious injuries and are now in stable condition.
The driver of the vehicle was unharmed.
The investigation is ongoing and no charges had been filed Saturday evening.
