Leesville Road remained undefeated as it steamrolled Enloe 50-20 in its Cap 8 opener..

Leesville (4-0. 1-0) ranked No. 3 by the N&O, left no doubt it ranks among the elite. Just three minutes into the game, quarterback Evan Parker connected to Braxton Berrios for a 37-yard touchdown..

Parker threw for three touchdowns and Berrios scored five for the high-powered Pride offense. The duo connected right before halftime for a 39-yard score to give Leesville a 29-0 lead.

“People talk about, ‘you don’t want a bye week when you’re playing really good football,’ said Pride coach Chad Smothers, whose club was off last week. “But it’s an opportunity to work on yourselves, and I think if you can get your kids to handle it, it can help you.”

Coming off an impressive three game stretch to start the season, Leesville entered the bye week last week on fire. The Pride were 3-0 in the non-conference portion of the schedule, and were averaging 35 points a game while only giving up an average of eight.

If this was a statement game for the upcoming conference play, Berrios has a few words for those who are willing to listen.

“(The win) was a good statement. I hope we sent it out to everyone in the Cap 8,” he said.

Enloe (0-5, 0-1), however, continued to struggle. It had a season-high in points.

The Eagles found themselves down by 36 before they found the end zone in the third quarter. Wallace Montague scored from six yards out, but the two point attempt by Robert Gresham failed.

Enloe used a heavy dosage of runs against the Pride, but the defensive line played tough and physical throughout. Enloe attempted just five passes in the game, while running the ball 34 times for 111 yards. Gresham was the workhorse for the Eagles, carrying the ball 15 times for 67 yards.

Berrios followed up on the Pride’s next possession with a 13 yard run, before Enloe scored on the ensuing kickoff. Carnell Lewis outran everybody on his way to a 70 yard kick return as the teams traded touchdowns in the third quarter.

Maurice Lauchner had ten carries and a touch down, and Malcolm Hitchcock had a 45 yard touchdown catch back in the second quarter for the Pride.
