CARY — A 41-year-old man was arrested at his home Tuesday on charges that he had computer photographs that showed children as young as a year old in explicit sexual situations.
Russell Lee Chase of 10023 Kingsclere Drive in Cary was being held on $600,000 bond for a court appearance Wednesday on 12 felony counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, according to arrest warrants.
Police charged that the photographs of both girls and boys involved children who police estimated could be as young as a year old. Some warrants estimated age ranges of 2 to 4 or 4 to 6 years old. At least one said the victim appeared to be 6 to 9 years old.
The warrants said police had not identified the children in the photos, which were listed as computer files.
Durham police worked with Cary police on the case, the warrants indicated. They did not say what led police to Chase.
