Tough nonconference scheduling could leave the league with just one team with a winning record after Saturday. ECU, UCF and Tulsa are 2-1. UCF is idle, and ECU and Tulsa have difficult tasks ahead. The league’s slate includes another shot at a top-25 team and two cracks at the ACC.
• ECU’s visit to UNC is the highlight; the Pirates are aiming for their third win in the series and first since Chris Johnson scored three touchdowns in a 2007 upset in Greenville.
Memphis will be eight miles away in Durham. The Tigers, 0-3 this season and 5-34 since their 2008 St. Petersburg Bowl appearance, play Duke, which needs one win to match its victory total for each of the past two seasons.
Tulsa (2-1) welcomes Fresno State (2-1), which scored 25 points in a loss at Oregon.
• Alabama-Birmingham, also searching for its first victory, will have a difficult time getting it at No. 16 Ohio State.
• Southern Miss (0-2) faces a Western Kentucky team that just upset Kentucky 32-31 in overtime.
