RALEIGH — Plumes of heavy black smoke briefly loomed over West Raleigh this afternoon when fire tore through the roof of a construction company on Chapel Hill Road.
No injuries have been reported.
Firefighters, emergency medical units and police were dispatched to Contech Construction Products, Inc. at 6115 Chapel Hill Road at 3:45 p.m. Firefighters had the fire under control shortly after 4:15 p.m., a city dispatcher reported.
Fire investigators have not disclosed the cause of the fire.
Police are advising motorists to avoid the area. A section of Chapel Hill Road, near Edwards Mill Road, has been closed.
That may not be the case very long. It should be open pretty soon, Raleigh police spokesman Jim Sughrue said about 4:25 p.m.
