— A registered sex offender in Garner has been charged with sex crimes he allegedly committed eight years ago. Kenneth Anthony Battle, 40, of 113 Coach Road was charged with two counts of first-degree sex offense with a child and one count of indecent liberties with a child.

Battle was charged with committing three separate crimes with the same minor from January 2004 to March 2005.

First-degree sexual offense with a child denotes that the minor was under the age of 13 at the time of the offense. Indecent liberties with a child refers to a teenager over 13 years of age but less than 16.

Battle has a history of sexual crimes reaching back to a 2010 arrest for first-degree sexual offense with a child and indecent liberties with a child. Battle pleaded guilty to indecent liberties with a child and was sentenced to 36 months of supervised probation and a $100 fine. The charge of first-degree sexual offense with a child was dismissed.

Battle’s bail is set at $1,000,000.
