DURHAM — A Durham man was arrested Sunday in connection with several arson incidents.
Jonathan E. Armstrong, 24, is charged with six counts of injury to personal property, according to Lt. Patrice Andrews with the Durham Police Department.
Police have been searching for suspects involved in six separate arson incidents that occurred during September in the area of Ninth and Green streets. The fires were set in dumpsters, trash cans and donation bins near buildings. Most were set between 11:30 p.m. and 1 a.m.
There may be more suspects involved in the incidents, Andrews said.
Armstrong is currently in custody at the Durham County jail, his bail set at $5,000.
Anyone with information about the arson incidents is asked to call investigators at 919-560-4582, ext. 29239 or Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200. Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases and callers never have to identify themselves.
