— Police have charged a 19-year-old Wake Tech student with possessing heroin with the intention of selling it from his apartment in a student apartment complex.

James Brian Mcveigh Jr. was arrested at his apartment at 5933 Whitehurst Way, which is in the Retreat at Raleigh, a private-sector development that caters to students.

Police went to his apartment at about 3 a.m. Monday, according to a warrant and an arrest report that identifies his occupation as being a Wake Tech student.

In addition to 1.3 grams of heroin that police charged he had, they said in the warrant that he had nine clonazepam pills. The drug is prescribed to control seizures and panic attacks, but is widely used illegally as a recreational drug.

In addition to the charges of possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver heroin and possession of the clonazepam, police charged Mcveigh with possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a dwelling for selling drugs.

Mcveigh was being held Tuesday on a $15,500 bond.

In August, police arrested Mcveigh on misdemeanor charges of assault on a female and injury to personal property.
