Several area students were invited to become members of the National Society of High School Scholars, which recognizes students who have shown outstanding academic achievement.

Among the recent invitees are:

•  Yousef Abdel-Rahman of Raleigh, a sophomore at Franklin Academy High School in Wake Forest. Yousef is the son of Nabil Abdel-Rahman and Elham Idris.

•  Erica L. Buck from Raleigh, a junior at Leesville Road High School. Erica is the daughter of Gerald and Jennifer Buck.

•  Habiba D. Fofana of Raleigh, a sophomore at Heritage High School.
