With losses by West Virginia and South Carolina, there are only 12 unbeaten teams left in the country and eight of them will face each other at least once before the end of the regular season.
Also, four of the unbeatens start with the letter O, which doesnt affect the rankings but is interesting nonetheless.
That Alabama (1) and Oregon (2) are unbeaten is a surprise to no one, but the next three teams in this weeks top five? Raise your hand if you thought Florida, Kansas State and Notre Dame would be in the top 5 in October.
Notre Dame wasnt ranked in the preseason, Kansas State began the season at No. 22 and Florida was No. 23, so there cant be many hands up.
LSU (6), with a 23-21 win over South Carolina, moves to the top of the list of one-loss teams.
Texas Tech (16), which handed West Virginia its first loss, jumps into the rankings for the first time this season.
West Virginia takes the biggest fall, down 11 spots to No. 17.
I kept Louisiana Tech (24) in after a wild loss to Texas A&M (22), and dropped Iowa State out after a home loss to Kansas State.
