Durham police seek shooters in two incidents

— Police were searching Monday for the people responsible for wounding two men in shootings that happened within three hours Sunday evening.

Just before 6 p.m., officers found a man was found in the front yard of a house at 802 Massey Ave. with gunshot wounds in his hip and buttock, the said.

At the Chapel Tower Apartments at 1315 Morreene Road at about 8:45 p.m., they found that two people had been robbed at gunpoint, and one was shot in the arm as two suspects fired while leaving.

Police said the man found on Massey Avenue had life-threatening injuries when he was taken to Duke University Hospital.

On Morreene Road, the wounded man refused medical treatment, officers said.

Police would not identify either victim.

They did not say if they had determined why the man on Massey Avenue was shot or why the robbers decided to shoot after getting a cell phone and car and house keys from the victims.

Anyone with information that might help police was asked to call the Criminal Investigation Unit at 919-560-4415 or Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200.

Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases, and callers never have to identify themselves.
