RALEIGH — The yearly occurrence of the Orionid meteor shower will peak from Saturday night to early Sunday morning, according to EarthSky.org.
This particular meteor shower is caused by Earth's path intersecting with debris left behind in the path of Halley's Comet.
The particles are bits of dust, ice and rubble that broke off from the comet on its path the the Earth's atmosphere collides with every year around Oct 20-22.
