FUQUAY-VARINA — Police arrested a man and woman from Raleigh at a telephone maintenance facility late Monday and charged them with stealing $2,000 worth of copper telephone wire.
Ashley Brooke Barnette, 25, was charged with felony larceny.
Aaron John Raymond, 29, was charged with felony larceny, possession of burglar’s tools, also a felony, and with misdemeanor counts of first-degree trespass and injury to real property. The damage charge applied to a chain link fence, according to an arrest warrant.
Police said they arrested the two at the Century Link telephone facility at 201 N. Main St. just before midnight.
Barnette and Raymond both listed their address as 1101 Markay Circle. Raymond listed Barnette as his nearest relative when being booked by police. She did not list any.
Raymond had been put on probation Sept. 26 for a misdemeanor larceny conviction in Lee County and was being held on a $25,000 bail, according to a magistrate’s order and state correction records. He also was convicted of misdemeanor larceny in 2004 in Lee County.
Barnette was being held on $5,000 bail.
