HARNETT COUNTY — A 12-year-old boy was killed Thursday and a Sanford driver is accused of failing to stop for a school bus and hitting the child as he was crossing the street to board the bus.
Adam Kempf died at the scene Thursday, according to Trooper J.B. Harvey of the State Highway Patrol.
Fernando Ortiz-Soto has been charged with felony passing a school bus and causing death. He is being held Harnett County jail, his bail set at $50,000.
