DURHAM — An Orange County silver alert was cancelled for an elderly woman who was found dead Monday morning.

Peggy Conway Riley, 78, was found in the driver’s seat of her Pontiac Bonneville which had run off the left side of Camden Road between Midland Terrace and Mist Lake Drive. The car had traveled over an embankment and landed in a creek bed.

A Silver alert for Riley was issued by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department on Sunday. Durham Police are still investigating to determine when the accident occurred and the cause of Riley’s death.
