Chapel Hill police made one arrest Wednesday during the town's Homegrown Halloween celebration on Franklin Street, according to a news release from police Lt. Kevin Gunter. An estimated 22,000 costumed revelers were in attendance.

Seeking a lower profile for the annual Halloween festivities, the town imposed restrictions on traffic, parking, transit and alcohol sales. Chapel Hill also set up a designated area on Franklin Street for attendees ringed with alcohol and DWI checkpoints.

One person whose name was not immediately available faces charges of underage consumption of alcohol as well as resisting, obstructing or delaying, Gunter said in the news release. Orange County emergency medical workers also responded to four alcohol intoxication calls and a fifth incident involving a laceration after a fall.

Police began clearing the street about 11:45 p.m. and reopened the road to traffic about an hour later.
