Tim O’Brien knows that great music is composed of many roots and branches. The acoustic music master has combined his love of American old-time and bluegrass with its Celtic origins to fashion excellence rewarded with a Grammy in 2005. Selected twice as IBMA’s top male vocalist, O’Brien is also known for his prowess on a variety of instruments and for his songwriting. His compositions have been recorded by Kathy Mattea, the Dixie Chicks, Nickel Creek and others, and he has earned a loyal following on both sides of the Atlantic. Tonight, O’Brien takes a break from performing in Mark Knopfler’s band to bring his award-winning talents to the ArtsCenter.
