Previously undefeated Erwin Triton, the Eastern Carolina 3A champion, made a quick exit from the playoffs with a 33-0 home loss to Greenville Conley.

Previously undefeated Erwin Triton, the Eastern Carolina 3A champion, made a quick exit from the playoffs with a 33-0 home loss to Greenville Conley.

Conley, which forfeited two wins because on an ineligible player, jumped on the Hawks early and lead 26-0 at the half.

The Vikings stuffed the Triton running game and the outcome was not in doubt after the opening minutes. Conley plays at Cleveland in the second round.

Triton finished 10-1.

Northern falls: Powerful Fayetteville E.E. Smith overwhelmed Northern Durham 42-14. Smith led 35-0 at the half and had 532 yards in total offense.

Lee offense clicks: Lee County scored on five of its first six possessions in the first half to build a 20-point lead on Fayetteville Terry Sanford en route to a 57-35 victory

ECH eliminated: Scotland, the 2011 4A state champion, took control early and cruised past East Chapel Hill 40-5. East was making its first football playoff appearance as a 4A school.

Princeton wins upset: Princeton lost to North Duplin by three touchdowns earlier in the year, but defeated the Rebels 28-21.

Bulldogs fall: Southeast Raleigh lost at New Hanover 28-14 in a penalty-filled game. Neither team could establish much consistency.

Southern ousted: Wilmington Hoggard upset Southern Durham 28-26.

Orange wins: Orange, the Carolinas 3A runner-up, motored past Eastern Wayne 38-6.

Granville gets shutout: South Granville shut out Siler City Jordan-Matthews 11-0.

Louisburg overwhelmed: Edenton Holmes crushed Louisburg 56-6.
