Jack Porter: The case to cast

The case to cast

A grammatical note: In his Oct. 28 column (“In character audit, GOP disappoints”), Steve Ford fell into the common erroneous pattern of the modern generation, which has an aversion to the objective case (“he” vs. “him”; “I” vs. “me,” etc.). No version of the Bible that I can find has Jesus saying (John 8:7) “Let he who is without sin.” In the King James version, he says: “He that is without sin, let him cast. ” In The Living Bible, Jesus says with grammatical propriety, “only he who never sinned may.”
