RALEIGH — A fire in a North Raleigh apartment complex Friday afternoon displaced roughly 50 residents, including one who needed to be taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation, Raleigh firefighters said in a report released Saturday.
The fire was reported shortly before 5 p.m. Friday in an apartment at The Lakes complex, 6614 Lake Hill Drive. The cause was accidental, according to a fire department report.
Two firefighters suffered minor injuries that were treated at the scene.
Fire officials who were at the scene could not be reached. An NBC-17 report said the fire started in the apartment of an elderly woman, who was rescued by another resident, Randy Rijo, 16.
