A team of students from The Ravenscroft School in Raleigh raised more than $55,000 for cancer research and education in the Hood-to-Coast Relay Race in Oregon.

The team members – Ravenscroft seniors Emily Bedsole, Charles Duncan, Meghan Jenkins, Spencer Knudsen, Andrew Smith and Caroline Zuckerman and juniors William Christman, David Dameron, Claire Fuscoe, Max Haensel, Rebecca Powell and Emily Ratliff – began the race on Mount Hood and ended at the finish line on the beach in Seaside. The race covers a distance of 199 miles.

The “Ravens in the Hood” were the second-highest fundraising team, and they came in 119th out of 1,068 teams. It was the school’s fourth year sending a team to the race, which benefits the American Cancer Society.
