Saltwater

Oregon Inlet

Nearshore anglers reported bluefish are biting. Inshore, sheepshead, gray trout, bluefish and f alse albacore have been caught . Contact: Oregon Inlet Fishing Center 252-441-6301, www.oregon-inlet.com.

Buxton/Hatteras

Out near the points, red drum have been caught in large amounts. Flounder, speckled trout, bluefish and puppy drum have been caught in the sound. Ocracoke/Portsmouth

Surf anglers are still catching mature red drum out on the beaches along with scattered puppy drum, spotfish, sea mullet and bluefish. Inshore boats have also brought in a fair amount of red drum, spe ckled trout and flounder.Contact: Tradewinds Bait & Tackle 252-928-5491, www.fishtradewinds.com.

Cape Lookout/Bogue Inlet

On the piers and beaches, Spanish mackerel, false albacore and re d drum are biting. On the soundside, drum and flounder have been caught . Contact: EJW Outdoors 252-247-4725; www.ncwaterman.com; or www.ncoif.com.

Topsail Island

Surf anglers caught good amounts of b luefish, pompano, drum and sea mullet. Off the piers, bluefish, albacore, spots and speckle d trout were reported. Nearshore, red drum and Spanish and speckled trout have been caught. Contact: East Coast Discount Tackle 910-328-1887, www.eastcoastsports.com.

Wilmington/ Wrightsville Beach

Nearshore anglers reported good catches of king mackerel. Inshore boats caught flounder, red drum and speckled trout. Surf anglers are catching drum, flounder, spotfish, sea mullet and bluefish. Contact: Tex’s Tackle 910-791-1763, www.texstackle.com.

Southport/Sunset Beach

Off the piers, king mackerel, blu efish, whitings, and spots have been reported. Surf anglers have found success with bluefish and drum along with occasional flounder. Contact: Dutchman Creek Bait & Tackle 910-457-1221; www.yeahrightcharters.com; or www.oifishingcenter.com.

Freshwater

Falls Lake

L argemouth bass are still biting at the main lake points at medium depths on crankbaits and Texas red worms. Crappie are still biting minnows and small jigs on the river channels at 15 foot depths. White bass are still being caught at medium depths. Water level: normal 251.5, Wednesday 251.74, full pool 264.8. Contact: Outhouse Tackle 919-217-0085; www.wmi.org.

Kerr Lake

Largemouth bass are biting on crank baits at shallow depths with the cooler weather. The crappie are still biting at varying depths around brushpiles.
